The Super Bowl is the greatest competition in the world as the best football teams from the NFC and AFC square off to pit their talents against each other. These teams first have to go through the playoffs to prove that they are indeed the team that is worthy of competing in the Super Bowl Toto Online.
In 1981 the Super Bowl was between the Oakland Raiders and the Philadelphia Eagles. These teams would play in the Super Bowl that was known as Super Bowl XV, meaning Super Bowl 15. The game was played in New Orleans on the 25th of January in 1981.
The Eagles were the favorites to win this game and the Raiders were ready to prove that they were every bit as good as Philadelphia. The Raiders were led by Jim Plunkett at quarterback and they had a team intensity that is still remembered to this day.
The Raiders came out in this game with a bang and they were clearly ready to show that they were as good as any team in the NFL. Jim Plunkett started things off by showing his short game and his long game in the first quarter. Plunkett’s first score came on a short, 2-yard pass to Cliff Branch. This touchdown put the Raiders up 7 points.
The next touchdown was a huge play as Kenny King managed to score on an 80 yard pass play from Plunkett. The Raiders jumped ahead 14-0 before the end of the quarter and many people thought that the Eagles were already out of the game as they looked so overmatched on both sides of the ball.
The 2nd quarter was a much slower quarter for the Raiders and they were unable to get back on the scoreboard of the rest of the half. The Eagles were not playing great, but they did at least manage to put some points on the scoreboard as they stayed within striking range as they entered the second half down 14-3.
The Raiders were ready after halftime and came out firing once again. Plunkett continued his passing attack and found Cliff Branch for his 2nd score of the day. This touchdown was on a 29 yard pass and the Raiders held a commanding 21-3 lead after this score. The Rams were really running out of opportunities to make plays.
The Raiders extended their score further with a field goal by Bahr, their kicker and they managed to go up 24-3.
The Rams did manage to score a touchdown in the 4th quarter, but this was a story of too little, too late. The Rams could not keep up with the Raiders the whole game and the touchdown pass from Ron Jaworski was not enough to get the Eagles in gear to make a run in the final quarter. The Raiders sealed things out with a 2nd field goal by Bahr and they ended the game with a 27-10 victory over the Eagles. The Raiders would be Super Bowl Champions. Plunkett was named MVP for his MVP performance.
